BRIEF

Create a datavisualization

The main challenge involves synthesizing complex data from credible sources into a visual format that is both understandable and aligned with the topic's nuances.
The overarching aim is to make intricate data accessible and informative, catering to a wide audience.

Making

The process used to make the datavisualization

Research

In the research phase of our data visualization project on youth mental health during COVID-19, ensuring the credibility of our data sources was a critical step. This added a layer of authenticity and reliability to our findings.

Organization

Organizing the collected information logically was crucial for our A4 poster. This step was essential because it enabled us to craft a coherent and impactful narrative, making the data easily understandable and engaging for the viewer.

Graphic

A vital aspect of our project was the graphic design. After extensive brainstorming and research, we chose a 2D human face filled with violet—a color closely associated with depression—to symbolize our theme. The face was fragmented and distributed across the poster, but the pieces remained close enough to maintain visual unity. This artistic choice amplified the impact of our message on mental health.

Quotes

To add a more human touch to our data visualization, we included verbatim quotes from young people. This element served to personalize the statistics, giving a voice to the individuals behind the data and making the project more relatable and impactful.
